733the Search for Relevant Information
I’m sure all of us who use the net to gather information have at one time or the
other acclimated info that was not reliable or accurate to the subject that we was researching. And that happens quite often.
People who post stuff on the net are basically authors. That’s assuming they haven’t copied it from another source.
And that’s where the problem lies. Because people are basically the authors of the info that they present many times
the info is incorrect.
Many times the info is presented to the authors through word of mouth and it ends up
on the Internet. When we are researching subjects on the net and gather info including
this tainted stuff and many time we assume its correct. Just because it was found
on the net. We automatically assume it was
correct. College students for example get much of the sources info from the Internet.
Then how do we prevent accepting this info for being correct? What we need to do especially
when we are researching a subject is to gather our info from different sources rather than just taking Internet materials
at face valve. Examples of other sources include newspapers, library books and people. We will be better off by using this
checklist and better prepared in using the Information that we have gathered for our use. In that way the users of the information
that my share wither it to be over the internet , orally or whatever way we wish to do it, at least we will have better confidence
in the info as being more actuated because we have at least done our homework before we do communication..
